How often do I have to do a load bank test?

Load bank testing is a critical aspect of maintaining the reliability and functionality of a healthcare facility’s emergency power system, typically consisting of generators.
According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 110 Standard for Emergency and Standby Power Systems, healthcare facilities are required to perform an annual load bank test on their generators if they do not run at 30% or more of their rated load at least once in the previous 12 months.

In addition to load bank testing, regular preventive maintenance and testing should be performed on all components of the emergency power system, including transfer switches and fuel systems, to ensure the system as a whole is ready to function in an emergency.
