NFPA 110, the emergency and standby power standard, requires that there shall be two sets of instruction manuals. One set is to be near the equipment, and the other in a secure location. The instruction manual that is near the EPS is there for emergencies when the EPS fails to start. If a Level 1 system fails to start, it can result in loss of human life or serious injury, so having an instruction manual close by is critical. The second instruction manual in a secure location ensures that there is always a back-up manual in the event the other one is damaged or missing.
