Under the 2010 ADA Standards, long-term care facilities must provide at least 5% (but no fewer than one) of all toilet and bathing rooms as accessible, with at least one accessible restroom for each sex where restrooms are separated. In addition, a required percentage of resident sleeping units must be accessible (§233), and those units must include accessible toilet and bathing facilities. In practice, this means every accessible resident unit must have its own accessible restroom, and common/public restrooms must also meet the accessibility minimums.
